Kitchen Remodeling Trends - Sinks and Faucets

Sinks and Faucets of Today

Homeowners today are seeking a blend between convenience and looks. Sinks and faucets are being designed and installed with food preparation and cleaning in mind. Whether it's contemporary or old-fashioned, kitchen remodeling trends in sinks and faucets are pointing toward a 'less is more' attitude without compromising style.

From Two to One: Sink Trends

Double bowl sinks are getting less attention from homeowners looking to give their kitchen a face lift, and single bowls are taking their place. One of the most popular sinks today is an undermounted stainless steel single bowl sink. Undermounted sinks are easier to maintain, and make it easier to wipe countertops clean. Stainless steel sinks and appliances of all kinds are easily the most popular in today's renovation marketplace.

Another sink trend is the white farmhouse sink with the exposed apron front. Some homeowners prefer a country style in their kitchen, and the utility and convenience the farmhouse sink offers.

Faucets: Less is More

Single lever faucets are becoming the faucet of choice, and high-spout single lever faucets are even more in style within kitchen remodeling trends. Faucets with pullout nozzles that alternate between stream and spray are another popular choice, making dishwashing easy and versatile. Combining one of these modern faucets with deep bowl sinks makes the washing of pots and pans more convenient and prevents spills.

Gourmet kitchens often include a second sink, used either for food preparation or for drinking water, with filters for hot and cold. Other faucets with long spouts or double-jointed handles are also popular.
